Consuelo Servan

Being Azul

Being Azul is a series of unique screenprints and mono screenprints by Glasgow-based artist Consuelo R. Servan exploring sensation, memory and the rhythms of summer.

Drawing on personal recollections of the southern European sky, heat (calor) and water, the works reflect on the small rituals that shape summer days, breakfasts in the shade, early morning walks, siestas during the hottest hours (cánicula), and afternoons spent by the swimming pool beneath a clear blue sky. Prickly pear cactuses (chumberas), common throughout southern Spain, appear as a recurring motif.
