Adrian Wiszniewski: In Full Colour

Glasgow Print Studio presents In Full Colour, an exhibition marking 40 years of collaboration with the Scottish artist Adrian Wiszniewski RSA (b.1958).

Adrian Wiszniewski’s relationship with Glasgow Print Studio began in 1985, when former director John Mackechnie MBE invited the young artist to explore printmaking in silkscreen and etching alongside expert printmakers John Taylor and Stuart Duffin. The works that emerged from this formative period - Po-et and The Sculptors Nightmare - became pivotal in Wiszniewski’s artistic development and are exhibited here as touchstone pieces in his extensive edition portfolio. The Sculptors Nightmare is among several works that have undergone new, intricate hand-colouring for this exhibition, transforming them into unique variations that illuminate the artist’s masterful command of colour and line.

Over four decades, Wiszniewski’s co-publishing practice with the studio has encompassed an extraordinary range of techniques, including linocut, lithography, woodcut, and more recently, laser-woodcut. Throughout this evolution, colour has remained a central conduit for meaning and emotion in his work. In Full Colour foregrounds this expressive force, presenting the most colour-driven survey of his printmaking to date.

While Wiszniewski’s polymathic practice often sees his exhibitions cross between painting, drawing, print and design, this is the first exhibition at Glasgow Print Studio dedicated exclusively to his printmaking. In doing so, it offers an in-depth look at the artistry and craftsmanship that underpin a historic creative partnership responsible for producing over 140 editions.
